Centralized Scheduler


GI Associates & Endoscopy Center seeks an experienced Centralized Scheduler to join their growing practice. The ideal candidate will have at least one full year of experience scheduling clinic appointments and procedures for multiple physicians in a medical practice.


The job duties include but are not limited to:

SUMMARY: Schedules appointments for patients for both internal and external procedures. Reports to Business Office Director and Department Supervisor.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EXAMPLES OF WORK: This list of tasks may be changed or other tasks may be assigned as necessary.



Schedules patient procedures EGD's, Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, etc.

Verifies all patient information demographics, insurance, procedure history, family history, current medical condition, allergies, and current medications.

Contacts referring/prescribing physician to notify that patient is scheduled and for orders to make necessary changes if patient is required to change medications prior to a procedure; also to receive surgical clearance.

Mails out patient information materials.


Record Keeping and Documentation      

Enters diagnosis and procedure into patient screen and completes precertification form in patient record.

Documents information in patients' charts concisely, accurately and completely.


Patient Education

Conducts patient education on all scheduled procedures.

Explains procedures and the importance of making and keeping appointment if patient is reluctant to schedule a procedure.


Special Projects

Performs other related work as required.

Participates in studies, research projects, or company projects as directed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Requires exposure to communicable diseases, medicinal preparations, sharps, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.
